MISSION
​
To seek out and professionally train talented children in order that they may pursue a professional dance career. Students trained at NGSD will be ready after approximately 4 years and no earlier than age 13, to audition for reputable summer programs around the country such as Joffrey Ballet (NYC), American Ballet Theater (NYC)​, NC School of the Arts, The Rock (PA), Boston Conservatory, Atlanta Ballet, etc.

The only investment necessary to pursue a professional dance career in ANY style of dance is classical ballet training between the ages of 8 & 14. This is the only foundation required to excel at all other forms of dance. With no training at all in modern, contemporary, lyrical, ballroom, jazz, hip hop, tap, etc., a well- trained ballet dancer can execute and perform these advanced dance classes and auditions with precision and ease.

Over the past 20 yrs dance has evolved to accomodate many body types beyond the traditional stigma of the long thin frame. In today's dance world there is a place for all body types as long as you have dance in your heart and soul!

​​Ballet is fundamental to all forms of dance, gymnastics, ice skating and other physical training including sports and cheerleading. With a strong, classical ballet background, students will excel at all other physical endeavors. Ballet teaches, body awareness & control, self-discipline, flexibility, endurance, extreme body conditioning, grace, coordination, memory skills, musicality, and choreography, while instilling confidence, boosting self esteem and expressing one’s self through the art and creativity of music and dance.
